Description
The Twelve Apostles are a spectacular collection of limestone stacks rising dramatically from the Southern Ocean along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. They were formed over millions of years as waves and wind gradually eroded the surrounding cliffs, leaving the towering pillars standing offshore. Despite their name, there were never actually twelve formations—the landmark became known as the Twelve Apostles as a memorable name for the group. It’s one of Australia’s most famous coastal sights, especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset.
