Blue Mountains – Canyon River

Pushing further into this hidden canyon meant truly committing to the icy water. Even wrapped in thick wetsuits and carefully clutching our dry bags, that winter swim was a beautifully bracing experience! Navigating through the deep, narrow gorge was completely exhilarating, and every freezing stroke deeper into the chasm revealed a new, untouched corner of this wild landscape.

After pulling ourselves out of the deep sections, we were greeted by this incredible cascading stream. The dark, beautifully carved rocks created the perfect natural spillway for the water to weave through, surrounded by towering sandstone walls and vibrant green ferns. Capturing the silky flow of the stream against the rugged, moss covered boulders made every single shiver along the way completely worth it.
