Description

Getting to Butterbox Point is truly half the adventure! The drive down the famously unsealed and corrugated Mount Hay Road will definitely give your vehicle’s suspension a solid workout, but the destination is entirely worth every bump along the way. Once you reach the end of the road, it’s a relatively short but rugged hike out across the rocky heathland to the point. It’s the perfect kind of walk—just enough effort to feel rewarding before suddenly opening up to one of the most spectacular, expansive viewpoints in the entire Blue Mountains.

This shot captures the absolute magic of golden hour out on the edge of the cliffs. As the sun begins to set, the sky lights up in vibrant shades of gold and amber, casting a stunning, warm glow across the sheer sandstone cliffs of the Grose Valley.
