Description

Description

The Spa Pool in Karijini is the famous little circular pool tucked into Hamersley Gorge, formed where water has carved a narrow chute through the rock and drops into a rounded basin. It’s basically nature’s plunge-pool jacuzzi—minus the warmth. The appeal is the contrast: rust-red, banded gorge walls wrapping around clear water and smooth rock textures, all compressed into a tight, graphic composition that feels made for a wide-angle lens. Karijini National Park in the Pilbara region is home to the coolest mountains and gorges I have ever seen. They rise like cakes that have cracked in the oven. Covered in beautiful trees and, loose red rock, and spinifex. Home to gorges, waterfalls, swimming holes and mountain hikes, Karijini is not to be missed. It’s consistently described as one of Australia’s most dramatic national park landscapes. The colours and shapes here are like nowhere else, a photographers paradise.
