Description

Description

Porcupine Gorge in outback Queensland is a dramatic cut in the landscape. The gorge bends in big horseshoe curves, with steep cliff walls and pale rock bands wrapping around the darker channel below. One of the main attractions is the Pyramid. The Pyramid is a bold, standalone sandstone formation with rich, layered colours. Over millions of years, Porcupine Creek carved and shaped it through erosion. The Pyramid rises from the gorge floor in a distinct shape. The walking track to the floor of the gorge starts from the nearby camp ground.
