The Megalong Valley is a wide, peaceful landscape hidden beneath the cliffs of the Blue Mountains, where farmland and grazing paddocks sit in the shadow of towering sandstone escarpments. Reached by a steep, winding descent from Blackheath, the valley feels a world away from the busy lookouts above, with quiet country roads, old farm gates, and huge open skies. In recent years it has also become known for its cool-climate wineries and cellar doors, where you can sit with a glass of local wine and look back up at the cliffs glowing in the late afternoon light.
