Description
Collie is a classic South West town with an outdoorsy edge. Jarrah forest surrounds the valley, the Collie River winds through town, and there’s a surprising amount to do for such a small place. What really puts Collie on the map lately are the unreal turquoise lakes just out of town, formed in old open-cut mine sites: Black Diamond Lake (about 5 km west) and Stockton Lake (about 8 km east) are the famous blue ones. On a sunny day the water can look almost electric-blue against pale sandy/limestone edges and bushland, which is why they’ve become such a hit for swimming, paddling and photography.
