Description

Description

Karijini National Park in the Pilbara region is home to the coolest mountains I have ever seen. They rise like cakes that have cracked in the oven. Covered in beautiful trees and, loose red rock, and spinifex. Home to gorges, waterfalls, swimming holes and mountain hikes, Karijini is not to be missed. It’s consistently described as one of Australia’s most dramatic national park landscapes. The colours and shapes here are like nowhere else, a photographers paradise. The Tom Price area is the classic base for Karijini and the surrounding Hamersley Range. Tom Price is also tightly linked to iron ore (it grew around mining and sits right in that ore-rich range), which is a big part of why the landscape looks the way it does out there: rugged ridgelines, banded rock, and that deep rust colour that lights up at sunrise and sunset.
