Description
Perched on the granite edge of Point King, the Point King Lighthouse Ruins are a weathered slice of Albany’s early harbour history. This was the first navigational light for the Port of Albany and one of the earliest lighthouses built on the WA coast, first showing a light in 1858 and remaining in use until 1911. The ruin still shows the original building layout (rooms off a central hallway), with random-stone construction and brickwork around doors and windows. The rocks below show off an orange colour, making the whole headland particularly interesting and picturesque.
