Description

Description

Just off the north end of Goode Beach in Albany, Mistaken Island sits close to shore in King George Sound—only about 120 metres off the Vancouver Peninsula. From the sand you get that classic Albany palette: pale beach, clear blue-green water, and rounded granite shelves and boulders along the edge. At very low tide, people sometimes wade or rock-hop across from Goode Beach (conditions matter—swell and slippery rocks can make it unsafe), otherwise it’s a short paddle. The island itself is a Nature Reserve and is known for little penguins. Its name comes from penguin burrows being mistaken for rabbit holes.
