Horseshoe Falls is a lush little waterfall tucked into the rainforest of Mount Field National Park. It’s an easy add-on if you’re already doing Russell Falls—you continue a bit further along the same walking network and duck into thicker forest filled with tree ferns, mossy rocks, and cool, damp air. The falls themselves spread out over low rock steps rather than dropping in one huge plunge. Water spills in wide curtains (often in a few separate streams) into a rocky pool, with boulders and bright green moss giving it that classic “temperate rainforest” look. It’s especially photogenic after rain, when the wet foliage brings out the lushness of the leaves.
